Bhutan Magical Tour

Trip Overview

Dreaming about traveling to Bhutan to explore the splendid beauty of this small but magical kingdom? On this five nights six days trip, you will explore some of the mystical and magical things about Bhutan which will leave you with your jaw open in amazement. Although a short trip, this trip takes you to the incredible places in Paro, Thimpu, and Punakha to give you an excellent opportunity to immerse into the Bhutanese culture and spirituality and to enjoy the natural wonders.

Itenerary

Arrive at Paro by Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines flight. Go through all visa and customs procedures and come out of the airport. You will see our representative holding a placard with your name printed on it. After you meet our representative, you will be transferred and checked into the hotel. We will go for a sightseeing tour of Paro later in the afternoon. Paro sightseeing tour today includes some of the incredible places in the city where we can learn about the Bhutanese culture, tradition and lifestyle. A visit to Farm Houses will bring us closer to the lifestyle of Bhutanese farmers. We will then visit one of the 108 7th century temples known as Kyichu Temple built by Tibetan King Songsten Gampo to stop a demon who was preventing the spread of Buddhism. Later we will visit Ripung Dzong which is one of the 17th-century fortresses built to protect Paro valley from Tibetan invaders. We will have some free time for an evening stroll in the Paro streets.
We will drive to Thimpu, the modern capital city of the Kingdom of Bhutan. On the way to Thimpu, we will stip at Tachog Lhakhang which is an amazing 14th-century temple. The drive will take us past Chunzom, the confluence of the beautiful rivers of Pachu and Wangchu flowing through Paro and Thimpu valleys. • We reach Thimpu and check into a hotel. Later, we go for a sightseeing tour of incredible attractions of Thimpu. The sightseeing tour will take us to visit Bhutan Postal Museum where we can get our photo printed on Bhutanese postal stamps. Those personalized stamps actually work to send postcards to your family, friends. We will also visit the Folk Heritage Museum, Traditional Painting School, and Textile Museum where we will learn about the amazing skills of Bhutanese artisans. Later in the afternoon, we will visit Tango Monastery which lies to the north of the city. The 17th-century monastery is the monastic school where monks get an advanced level of monastic education.
We drive to Punakha today after breakfast. The drive of about two and a half hours takes us through the scenic landscape. We will cross Dochula Pass at the elevation of 3140 m which boasts an excellent Himalayan panoramic view on a clear day. Driving past the pass, we will visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang for a while where we can see beautiful mural paintings recording the significant events in the Bhutanese history. Once in Punakha, we will visit Devine Madman’s Monastery-Chhimi Lhakhang which is famous for the fertility shrine which, people believe, bestows people the blessings of fertility. Later, we go to visit Punakha Dzong which lies in between Pho Chu and Mo Chu considered as male and female rivers. The 17th century Dzong is an example of intricate wood carving works. Punakha is also a great example of Bhutanese culture where Bhutanese history and important events happened. We will also drive to upper Punakha to visit Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang after taking a short hike to the top of the hill. We can see a beautiful view of the Punakha valley from the top where we reach after about an hour’s walk. We return back to the hotel in Punakha after spending some beautiful moments here.
We drive back to Thimpu after breakfast. After checking into a hotel, we go for sightseeing tour of Takin preserve where we will see a rare animal called Takin which is found only in Bhutan. We also go to watch archery game at Changlimithang National Stadium; visit Tashichoe Dzong – a 17th-century fortress; Buddha Point where the largest statue of Buddha is situated on a hill from where a spectacular view of Thimpu valley can be witnessed. Later on, we will visit National Memorial Chhorten for a spiritual indulgence and Craft Bazar to see the amazing skills of the Bhutanese artisans
We drive to Paro after breakfast today. After checking into a hotel, we will go for an incredible day hike to Paro Taktsang Monastery. The wonderful hiking trip to the breathtaking Paro Taktsang Monastery famously known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery is an uphill walk of more or less 2.5 hours depending upon the pace. Once we are on the top, we can see a beautiful Buddhist monastery clinging to a cliff and also a breathtaking view of Paro valley. All the tiredness of the climb seems to disappear as the thrill of the view takes over us. We hike back down to Cafeteria and stop for lunch. Later drive to back to Paro valley to witness the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong which is a 17th-century fortress.
We will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight back home.
