Trip Overview

Kathmandu Valley Trek is short and simple trek that allows you to see and enjoy the natural beauty of the valley, including Shivapuri National Park, Chisapani- Nagarkot trek and other hidden gems. In this trip, numerous numbers of hiking routes are involved which are famous for viewing the breathtaking scenes of different Himalayan ranges. Kathmandu is also known as the "city of temples", hence this trek not only allows you to enjoy the natural scenic but also give you an opportunity to understand the culture, tradition, art and history of the valley. 

The trek includes the sightseeing of Monuments that are listed in world heritage site, hike around Shivapuri National Park, Chisapani-Nagarkot-Dhulikhel trek, and hike around Balthali village. Chisapani Trek is one of the finest and shortest hikes to the north of Kathmandu valley. The stunning views of snowcapped mountains and charming Nepali villages with green terraces make the Kathmandu rim trek popular. As we pass through 112-sq-km Shivapuri National Park and large Tamang settlement of Mulkharka, we can view the Kathmandu valley on a clear sunny day. 

Mountain Delights Trek and Expeditions P. Ltd. offers a 6 day hike across the Chisapani and Shivapuri National Parks. There are numerous hiking trails in Shivapuri National Park. The Chisapani hike is one of the best that we have to offer. Throughout the year, this hiking trail can be used. Sundarijal-Chisapani-Nagarkot will be our hiking routes for this trip. Similarly, the views of Himalayas, sunrise, and sunset can be viewed from this hiking trail. 

Itenerary

Our friendly English speaking representative will meet and greet you in Kathmandu International Airport, and then you will be transferred to your pre-booked hotel. Once all the formalities reae completed, you can rest and relax at the hotel. In the evening, we will take you to short Thamel tour to make you familiar to some restaurants, money exchangers, supermarket, gear shop and other necessary things that you might need during your trip. After exploring the market, you will be taken to our office for trip briefing meeting. Overnight in hotel. If your arrival is late today, this tour and trip briefing will be postponed for the next day.

You will be starting the day with breakfast at your Hotel. The sightseeing tour involves tour of two religious, cultural, and art-wise important sites of Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath stupa. Pashupatinath Temple: It is one of the most famous Hindu temples in South-Asia. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. This place is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. The Bagmati river flowing besides the temple is religiously and spiritually important for Hindus where cremation of dead body takes place. Pashupatinath temple holds the most of prominence during Shivaratri – Shiva’s birthday and thousands of pilgrims gather in the night to celebrate the day. Boudhanath Stupa: It is one of the biggest Stupas in terms of size and height in Nepal and located in east of Kathmandu. The site is peaceful and culturally full with intermixed influence of Tibetan and Sherpa roots. Stupa built in the trading route between Kathmandu and Tibet has four pairs of eyes directed towards all four directions. It is believed to be influenced by Mahayana Buddhist philosophy. After short tour of city we return to hotel and prepare for the trek. Overnight will be spent at hotel.

After having a delicious breakfast, we will drive for about an hour to reach Kakani and then trek to Gurju Bhanjyang (2,430 m). This trip provides extensive information on the life, history, culture, and religion of the people living there. Panoramic views of Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Ganesh Himal Range, Mt. Langtang Range, Mt. Dorjeelakpa, Mt. Shisapangma, Mt. Gaurishankar and may more western mountains can be viewed from the top of Gurju Bhanjyang. After lunch, we will hike for 30 minutes to reach Nagi Gumba to spend the night. Overnight stay in local lodge.

After having breakfast at Monastery, we will continue our trek towards Sundarijal through driving. It will take about an hour to reach Sundarijal and from there we will start our hike. The trail gradually ascends through pine and oak forest, and this Shivapuri National Park is a fantastic site for bird watching, as well as seeing some other wild animals. The park is home for more than 300 species of birds as well as rarely sighted bears, leopards and different species of deer. A panoramic view of the Himalaya and the valley will be seen from Chisapani. Overnight local lodge.

It is a popular destination for sunrise and views of Himalayas. The Himalayan range, which stretches It takes 7 hours to reach Nagarkot from Chisapani. After having a delicious breakfast, we will start our hike through Chauki Bhangyang, and continue the charming trails that lead us to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is located at the summit of the hill. It ifrom Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east, emerges from the darkness on a clear day to greet the fortunate visitor with its awe-inspiring majesty and splendor. Overnight local lodge.

After breakfast, we will begin our long day walk to Dhulikhel. You will be able to appreciate the natural beauty as you walk through the countryside of Nepal's rural communities. After you reach Dhulikhel, you'll see a plethora of ethnic differences, traditional traditions, lush foliages and abundant bird life. Dhulikhel is a small town where ethnic Newar community resides, who have a lengthy history. The Newar people's artistic ability and urban attitude have created a charming and a beautiful area. The streets of Dhulikhel are lined with bare-brick buildings, carved wooden windows, slanting roofs, pagodas, and religious statues. The Narayan and Harisiddhi temples, which are covered in intricate wood carvings, are the most important places of devotion here. A tranquil and scenic place is the Gokhureswar Mahadev temple, which is a 30-minute walk east of town. The Bhagawati temple which dominates the skyline of Dhulikhel is located at a high altitude in the western section of the city. A nice view of the town and nearby surroundings can be seen from here. Overnight local lodge.

Namobuddha is the Buddhist retreat and a pilgrimage site having a long and illustrious history. Hiking to Namobuddha Hill Station provides spectacular views of the Jugal Mountain range including Dorje Lakpa. The adventurous hike to Namobuddha is both refreshing and enjoyable. Walk across the fertile rice and orange terraces in order to reach Namobuddha. You will be blown waya by the magnificence of the Namobuddha monastery when you step on its ground. If you take your gaze away from it and look around, you will be rewarded with equally beautiful views, ranging from basins to mountain peaks. Overnight stay in a local lodge.

We will eat breakfast and begin our journey to Balthali after sunrise view in the morning. Our hiking tour to Balthali village goes via Namobuddha monastery. During the journey, you will be able to stroll through a beautiful portion of the countryside east of Kathmandu, with streams and rivers, forests and farmlands, hills and plateaus. Hiking through Balthali village is a fantastic rural trip. The trip to Balthali is also appropriate for a family vacation. Balthali village's whitewashed buildings with diverse murals beneath green trees attract visitors' attention. Traditional buildings dot the landscape of terraced farms. The hiking tour of Balthali village combines a pleasant and short climb with a visit of the charming settlement. The eastern Himalayas, including the Everest range, can be seen from the northern part of Balthali hamlet. We return to Kathmandu after lunch. Overnight in hotel.
After breakfast at your Hotel, we take you to tour around Kathmandu city to experience the historical, cultural and spiritual affluence to unveil the social and historical mysteries. This historical, cultural and spiritual city unveils the social and historical mysteries to visitors. You will walk through the narrow lanes of the ancient Kathmandu – the center of power – that includes markets of Ason, Glass beads market at Indrachowk, oldest supermarket at New Road, Kilagal, and Hidden Stupas inside the family courtyard. Visit of Kathmandu Durbar Square – the administrative quarter of Malla Kings (fourteenth to eighteenth century), and Shah Kings who ruled Nepal from 1768 until 2008. The most unique experience in the square is the visit to the temple of the living goddess “Kumari”. After the tour, return back to your Hotel. If you are staying in Thamel, you can hang around this bustling tourist market and enjoy shopping. Overnight in Hotel.
You will be transferred to the international airport of Kathmandu 3 hours prior to you scheduled flight and thus, your tour ends here.

Medicines and First Aid Kits

Our guide will carry the first-aid kit bag during the trek.  We still recommend you bring your first aid kit as you feel it is necessary.

  1. Headache and fever medicine
  2. Ibuprofen for general aches and pains
  3. Burnt cream
  4. Imodium or Pepto Bismol capsules for upset stomach and diarrohea
  5. Diamox (commonly prescribed as Acetazolamide). Please discuss with us before starting to take this medicine.
  6. Antibiotics
  7. Blister treatments such as moleskin, hand plats Band-Aids, some waterproof tape, anti-infection ointments, etc.

Miscellaneous

  1. Passport and extra passport photos (2 copies).
  2. Durable wallet/pouch for travel documents, money, and passports.
  3. Pocket knife.
  4. Bandanas.
  5. Favorite snack foods and energy bars
  6. Paperback books, cards, mp3 player. Avoid players with moving hardware as it may not function. Remember to keep these items lightweight.
  7. Binoculars.
  8. Camera.

All garments should be kept dry using waterproof stuff sacks or large puncture-resistant plastic bags.
