Annapurna I Climbing Overview

Annapurna Massif is one of the major attractions of the Annapurna region and Annapurna I is one of the parts of the magnificent massif. Mount Annapurna I is the world’s tenth highest mountain at 8,091 meters and 26545 ft. The mount is surrounded by the beautiful Kali Gandaki gorgeto to the west and Marsyangdi riverin to the north and east. 

Annapurna is also knowns as the “goddess of the harvests” in Sanskrit, which means full of food. In 1950, June 3 the French climber Maurie Herzog and Louis Lachenal summit the Mt. Annapurna I for the first time and it is the highest summit accomplished on world for three years, until the first successful summit of the Mount Everest.
