Trip Overview

An incredible journey to Bhutan comes to a grand experience on this seven nights eight days tour. This splendid tour takes travelers to the major tourist attractions of Bhutan for an awesome natural, cultural and spiritual touring experience. The tour covers the attractions in Paro, Thimpu, Punakha, and Bumthang.

Itenerary

Arrive at Paro by Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines flight. Go through all visa and customs procedures and come out of the airport. You will see our representative holding a placard with your name printed on it. After you meet our representative, you will be transferred and checked into the hotel. We will go for a sightseeing tour of Paro later in the afternoon. Paro sightseeing tour today includes some of the incredible places in the city where we can learn about the Bhutanese culture, tradition, and lifestyle. A visit to Farm Houses will bring us closer to the lifestyle of Bhutanese farmers. We will then visit one of the 108 7th century temples known as Kyichu Temple built by Tibetan King Songsten Gampo to stop a demon who was preventing the spread of Buddhism. Later we will visit Rinpung Dzong also called Paro Dzong which is one of the 17th-century fortresses built to protect Paro valley from Tibetan invaders. We will have some free time for an evening stroll in the Paro streets.
We will drive to Punakha and Wangdue after breakfast today. The drive will take past the confluence of Pachu and Wangchu, rivers flowing through Thimpu and Paro Valleys. The famous confluence is known as Chunzom. The drive of about three and a half hours takes us through the scenic landscape. We will cross Dochula Pass at the elevation of 3140m/10301ft which boasts an excellent Himalayan panoramic view on a clear day. After crossing the pass we drive past incredible 108 Chhortens with an abundance of spiritual vibrations around. We will also visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang to witness the incredible merging of past and future telling the story of a warrior. Once in Punakha, we will visit Devine Madman’s Monastery-Chhimi Lhakhang which is famous for the fertility shrine which, people believe, bestows people the blessings of fertility. Later, we go to visit Punakha Dzong which lies in between Pho Chu and Mo Chu considered as male and female rivers. The 17th century Dzong is an example of intricate wood carving works. Punakha is also a great example of Bhutanese culture where Bhutanese history and important events happened. We will also drive to upper Punakha to visit Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang after taking a short hike to the top of the hill. We can see a beautiful view of the Punakha valley from the top where we reach after about an hour’s walk. We return back to the hotel in Punakha after spending some beautiful moments here.
Today is a long driving day of about seven hours from Punakha to Bumthang. The drive is spectacularly scenic through rhododendron and oak forest and tropical vegetation. We will also drive past Pele la pass at the elevation of 3352m/11000ft. This drive will allow us to soak into the rural setting of Bhutan. After reaching Bumthang, check into a hotel and freshen up.
We will go on a sightseeing tour of Bumthang after breakfast. The sightseeing today includes the amazing attractions like Jambay Lhakhang – a 7th-century temple built by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo; Kujey Lhakhang – a 17th-century temple; Jakar Dzong which is also known as Castle of the White Bird. This temple is used as an administrative center of Bumthang valley. Later in the afternoon, we will also visit Dorjibi Weaving Center which is half hour driving distance from Bumthang where we will learn about the great skills of weaving artisan women. The center is jointly run by Wangchuck Centennial Park and WWF Bhutan. Later on, we drive to Trongsa and stay overnight at a hotel there.
Check out early after breakfast and go for a sightseeing tour of National Museum where we will see cultural and historical objects on display and Trongsa Dzong which is the most impressive of all Dzongs in Bhutan. Later on, we will drive to Thimpu via Wangduephodrang for about 7 hours. Stay overnight at hotel in Thimpu.
We go for a sightseeing tour of incredible attractions in the modern capital city of Bhutan. We will visit Takin preserve where we will see a rare animal called Takin which is found only in Bhutan. We also go to watch archery game at Changlimithang National Stadium; visit Tashichoe Dzong – a 17th-century fortress; Buddha Point where the largest statue of Buddha is situated on a hill from where a spectacular view of Thimpu valley can be witnessed. Later on, we will visit National Memorial Chhorten for a spiritual indulgence. We will also visit Craft Bazar, Traditional painting school, National textile museum to see the amazing skills of the Bhutanese artisans.
We drive to Paro after breakfast today and check into a hotel in Paro. Later on, we are going for an exciting day hike trip today starting after breakfast. The wonderful hiking trip to the breathtaking Paro Taktsang Monastery famously known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery is an uphill walk of more or less 2.5 hours depending upon the pace. Once we are on the top, we can see a beautiful Buddhist monastery clinging to a cliff and also a breathtaking view of Paro valley. All the tiredness of the climb seems to disappear as the thrill of the view takes over us. We hike back down to Cafeteria and stop for lunch. Later drive to back to Paro. On the way, we will make a short stop at Kyichu Temple, one of the 108 7th century temples built by Tibetan King Songsten Gampo.
As per your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the international airport of Kathmandu 3 hours prior to the flight time and your tour ends here.
