Everest Region
The Everest region, also called the Khumbu, lies in north-east Nepal inside Sagarmatha National Park. Most treks start with a short flight from Kathmandu (or Ramechhap in the busy seasons) to Lukla and follow the Dudh Koshi valley through Sherpa villages such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Dingboche.
Everest Base Camp sits at 5,364 m and the classic viewpoint, Kala Patthar, at 5,545 m. Our Everest Base Camp Trek takes 17 days including arrival and Kathmandu days; the Gokyo Lakes, Three Passes and Jiri routes are longer, and Island, Lobuche and Mera peaks are climbed from the same trails. Everest itself rises to 8,848.86 m.
You need a Sagarmatha National Park entry permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit, and every trek we run is led by a licensed guide. The best seasons are March to May and late September to November. Teahouse lodges are available all along the main routes.
