Both Nepal and Bhutan are attractive in terms of lifestyle, art, culture, and landscapes. This 21 days itinerary offers you adventurous trek and spectacular view of mountains, cultural and spiritual experiences and awesome art and culture which are most beautiful and rare in the world.

Annapurna Base Camp

Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of the famous trek which lies in Annapurna conservation Area where you can get the view of mountains like Annapurna I(8091m/26545ft), Annapurna south(7219m/23684ft), Machhapuchre(6993m/22942ft) and many others. You can also experience lifestyle of local people and their unique culture.

Bhutan:

Bhutan is a small landlocked country of South Asia. During the trip of Bhutan, you can experience and explore the culture, tradition, various social practices, monasteries and Gumbas along with many natural attractions such as rivers, forests, mountain views and many others.

Itenerary

Upon your arrival in international airport in Kathmandu, our representative will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. After all checking in procedure, you can rest and relax at the hotel. In the evening you will be taken to Thamel where you can find good restaurants, gear shops, money exchangers, ATMs, and others. After the exploration of the Thamel you will be taken to our office for the explanation and short brief of the trip. Overnight at the hotel. And if your arrival is late then briefing would be done next day.
After breakfast you will visit Pashupatinath temple - a famous Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva located at the bank of Bagmati river which is one of the significant temples of Hindu devotees from around the world and listed in the UNESCO world heritage site. Here you can see the cremation of the dead bodies. Now we head towards Bouddhanath stupa which is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world lies in the heart of magnificent square and enlisted in UNESCO world heritage site. Now you will return to the hotel and prepare the gear and buy some if you need. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport foe the short flight to Pokhara. After short 30 minutes flight you will be transferred to the Nayapul from the airport. From Nayapul the trek starts, and your gears will be sorted out to the porters. The trial follows Modi Khola, a beautiful river coming from Annapurna Valley. You will reach Tikhedhunga and search for a lodge in Tikhedhunga. Overnight at local lodge.
After breakfast at the local lodge, the trek starts in which the first part will be the trek to steeply up stone stairs to Ulleri. Ulleri will bring the first view of the snowy peak and we continue to Banthanti, where we will have lunch. After lunch we will walk through the forest. Walking through Nagthanti, we walk to Upper Ghorepani located at the center of Rhododendron Forest. We can enjoy spectacular view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peak from Ghorepani. Overnight at local lodge.
Early morning trek to Poonhill from where you can enjoy the view of the Annapurna, Fishtail, Himchuli and other peaks long panorama with the view of sunrise. He we will have some tea or coffee to escape the freezing temperature. Poonhill is surrounded with blooming Rhododendron in the spring. After some time at the Poonhill we will return to the lodge for breakfast. Now steep uphill trek will start before heading downhill to Deurali through the Rhododendron and pine forest. Now we will head toward Banthali where we will have our lunch. After lunch we will head steeply down to the stream and make final steep uphill walk to Tadapani. Overnight at local lodge.
After breakfast with the view of mountain peaks, we start our trek towards Chhomrong. The trek starts with downhill walk to river and cross the suspension bridge and trek uphill till Chhomrong passing through beautiful forest and small Gurung settlements. We can get the idea of Himalayan lifestyle of people in the area. We spend night at local lodge in Chhomeong.
After breakfast you will trek downhill to Chhomrong Khola and cross the bridge and uphill track starts. You will pass small villages of Sinuwa and Bhanuwa and after a walk-in beautiful stretch in the forest and past khuuldighar walk downhill to reach Bamboo for lunch. After lunch you will walk for an hour and half to reach the small village Dovan located in deep gorge. Overnight at local hotel.
The day start with upward trek in the morning after breakfast and you will walk in slow pace whole day as the altitude is increasing and acclimatization is required. The trial is full of Rhododendron Forest and bamboo along with beautiful waterfalls on both side of river. Overnight at local lodge in Deurali.
Today trek starts early in the morning. During the trek as the altitude goes up the alpine landscape starts to appear. We walk along with river to reach Machhapuchre Base camp(3700m) where we can stop for tea. Again, we start our trek in slow pace for acclimatizing our body. We reach Annapurna Base Camp where we will stay the night and we will enjoy our meal here and explore around the place.
We will wake up early in the morning to explore the stunning view of sunrise over the mountain ranges of Annapurna – specially in Annapurna I. Sunrise view over the mountain will be highlight of the day. The view of the peaks from Annapurna Base Camp encircled by peaks such as Machhapuchre, Gandarva Chuli, Flute Peak, Annapurna I, Annapurna Fang, Annapurna South and Himchuli. Enjoy the exploration around the numerous chorterns dedicated to the brave climbers who lost their life climbing Annapurna. After breakfast we begin our trek towards Bamboo. Overnight at local lodge in Bamboo.
We will start our day trek on downward trial and uphill to Chhomrong. We will pass Sinuwa and then Chhomrong to steep downhill to Jhinu Danda. Based on time available, we can enjoy the hot spring bath 30 minutes down from lodge to river. Stay overnight at local lodge at Jhinu Danda.
We walk through the ridge of Modi Khola on its right bank as it easy day of walking. We can see beautiful waterfalls, green farming terraces and beehives hanging on cliffs. After passing through various villages, we reach Nayapul from where we take the drive to Pokhara and enjoy the evening in the lake city. Overnight in hotel.
After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to the airport. The flight will be short flight in domestic airline. Now you will be taken to the hotel where you will rest and relax.
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport, and you will fly to Paro of Bhutan. After going through all visa and customs procedures, come out of the airport. Here you will be welcomed by our representatives. After you meet our representative, you will be transferred and checked into the hotel. We will go for a sightseeing tour of Paro later in the afternoon. Paro sightseeing tour today includes some of the incredible places in the city where we can learn about the Bhutanese culture, tradition, and lifestyle. A visit to Farmhouses will bring us closer to the lifestyle of Bhutanese farmers. We will then visit one of the 108 7th century temples known as Kyichu Temple built by Tibetan King Songsten Gampo to stop a demon who was preventing the spread of Buddhism. Later we will visit Ripung Dzong which is one of the 17th-century fortresses built to protect Paro valley from Tibetan invaders. We will have some free time for an evening stroll in the Paro streets.
After breakfast we will take a short drive to Thimpu, the capital city of kingdom of Bhutan. On the way to Thimpu, we will stop at Tachog Lhakhang which is 14th century temple. The drive will take us past Chunzom, the confluence of beautiful rivers of Pachu and Wangchu flowing through Paro and Thimpu valley. We reach to Thimpu and check into the hotel. Later we will go to Bhutan Postal Museum where we can get our photo printed on Bhutanese postal stamps. The personalized stamps work to send postcards to your friends and family. Now we will visit to Folk Heritage Museum, Traditional Painting School, and Textile Museum where you can learn various things of Bhutanese artists. In the evening we will visit to 17th century Tango Monastery where monks get the advanced level monastic education. Now you will return to the hotel and overnight at hotel.
We will drive toward Punakha enjoying the scenic landscapes. We will cross the Dochula pass at the elevation of 3140m from where excellent view of Himalayas can be seen on clear day. After crossing the pass, we will visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang for some time where mural paintings can be seen which showcases the significant events in Bhutanese history. When we reach Punakha we will visit Devine Madman’s Monastery – Chhimi Lhakhang famous for fertility shrine and people believes the blessing of fertility. Later we will visit Punakha Dzong which lies between Pho chu and Mo Chu which are considered as male and female river. The 17th century Dzong is an example of intricate wood carving works. Punakha is also a great example of Bhutanese culture where many important Bhutanese events took place. We will also drive to upper Punakha to visit Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang after taking a short hike to top of the hill. We can see a beautiful view of Punakha valley the from here. We will return to Punakha after some amazing moment here and overnight here.
After breakfast we drive back to Thimpu and after checking into the hotel, we will go for sightseeing tour of Takin preserve where we will see a rare animal called takin found only in Bhutan. We will also go to watch archery game at Changlimithang National Stadium. We visit Tashichoe Dzong, a 17th century fortress and then Buddha Point where the largest statue of Buddha is located from where spectacular view of Thimpu Valley can be seen. Later we will visit to National Memorial Chhorten for spiritual indulgence and Craft Bazar to see the amazing skills of Bhutanese artisans.
We head towards Paro after breakfast today. After checking into the hotel, we will go for the hike to Paro Taktsang Monastery which is famously known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The hike will be uphill walk and when we reach the top, we will enjoy the view of Buddhist Monastery clinging to a cliff and breathtaking view of Paro valley. After some time here we will hike down to the cafeteria for lunch and drive back to Paro valley to witness the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong which is a 17th century fortress. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro international airport by our representative. After the flight when you arrive out of the airport in Kathmandu you will be taken to the hotel where you will relax and have some rest in the hotel, or you can take some local sights. Stay overnight at hotel.
Today we take a walking tour of the local area to experience the historical, cultural, and spiritual riches of Kathmandu. We unveil the social and historical mysteries, see the artistic heritage and traditional crafts, and capture shots of the centuries-old monuments. You will discover some of the city's hidden places on this sightseeing tour. We explore the local market of Ason, glass bead market at Indrachowk, the oldest supermarket at New Road, Kilagal, the Hidden Stupa, etc. Then we walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The most unique experience in the square is a visit to the temple of the living goddess “Kumari”. Durbar Square walking tour is a perfect mixture of the culture, history, art, architecture, and traditional values prevalent in the Kathmandu Valley. When we finish sightseeing, you can return to the hotel by walking, or you can hire a rickshaw if you want to experience a ride in the 3-wheeled bicycle famous in Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square area.now we return to the hotel and overnight in hotel.
We will bid you goodbye and you will be taken to the airport 3 hours before the flight time by our representatives.

Equipment Checklist

This list is only a guideline. While you are required to bring everything on this list, there are numerous options, brands, and versions of each piece of equipment. Use your experience and the listed features to find the best gear for you. Some of the above equipment can be easily found in stores in Kathmandu for cheaper prices.

General

  • 4 seasons Sleeping bag (Optional/we can provide one if you need it but is to be returned after the trek)
  • Duffel or Rucksack bag & suitcase (Optional/we can provide one if you need it but is to be returned after the trek)
  • Daypack
  • Down Jacket (Optional/we can provide if you need one but is to be returned after the trek)

Upper Body - Head / Ears / Eyes

  • Shade hat or baseball cap - some people drape a bandana down the back of their head and then put a baseball cap on to hold it in place. This can be a flexible alternative while keeping the sun off your ears and neck.
  • Warm wool or synthetic hat that covers your ears.
  • Balaclava - lightweight, thinner variety.
  • Glacier glasses-
  • Headlamp
  • Some people like earmuffs; These are optional; a good hat, balaclava, and hooded jacket should really be sufficient, but this is a personal choice for some people (optional).
  •  A neck warmer is another piece of gear for extra warmth if you feel you will need it (optional).

Hand

  • 1 pair of liner gloves, thin wool or synthetic, useful alone on mild days or as a layer inside other gloves/mitts for additional warmth.
  • 1 pair of warm gloves
  • Instant hand warmers are always nice in a pinch, but really shouldn't be necessary on the trek.
  • Bringing appropriate hand protection as recommended above, should be sufficient (optional).

Core Body

  • T-shirts (2).
  • Light and expedition-weight thermal tops.
  • Fleece jacket or pullover.
  • Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional).
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket.
  • 2 women's sports bras, Synthetic, no cotton!
  • Long shirts (2)

Lower Body – Legs

  • 2 pairs of nylon hiking shorts - Quick drying type, not cotton!
  • Underwear, stay away from cotton (4).
  • 2 pairs of lightweight long underwear - capilene or other synthetic.
  • 1 pair soft shell pants - synthetic, full zip from top and bottom preferable.
  • 2 pairs of trekking pants, preferably that zip on/off at the knees so they double as shorts.
  • 1 pair of hard-shell pants. Waterproof/breathable, Gore-Tex or equivalent is best. Should zip from the top and bottom - this makes it easier to put on over boots without getting undressed should the weather change once you are underway for the day.
  • 1 pair of cotton pants (loose jeans/khakis).
  • All clothing should be kept dry using waterproof stuff sacks or large puncture-resistant plastic bags.

Feet

  • 2-4 pairs of liner socks, synthetic or capilene.
  • 2-3 pairs of heavy-weight socks to be worn over liner socks.
  • 1 pair of lightweight socks, is a good option for the lower / warmer parts of the trail.
  • 1 pair of light to medium-weight waterproof hiking/trekking boots. Ensure a good fit with layered socks and you have worn then before to get used to it (Otherwise, you will get lots of blisters).
  • 1 pair of light trekking shoes or sneakers. Good for around the camp/lodges and in Kathmandu.
  • 1 pair of sandals (Optional).
  • Medicines and First Aid Kits

(Please note our guide will also carry the first aid kit bag during the trek. However, we still recommend you bring your personal first aid kit as well)

  • Extra Strength Excedrin for altitude-related headaches.
  • Ibuprofen for general aches and pains.
  • Immodium or Pepto bismol capsules for upset stomach or diarrhea.
  • Diamox (commonly prescribed as Acetazolamide) 125 or 250mg tablets for altitude sickness.

       Please discuss this with us before starting to take this medicine.

  • 1 small personal-sized first-aid kit with blister treatments such as mole skin, band-aids, some waterproof tape, anti-infection ointments, etc. Your guides will have more extensive medical gear, but you should have the basics for general use.

Miscellaneous

  • Passport and extra passport photos (4 copies).
  • Airline ticket (Please make a copy and leave on at our office in KTM just in case you need to change the date of your).
  • Durable wallet/pouch for travel documents, money & passport.
  • Lip balm. At least SPF 20, 2 sticks. A string taped to the stick is helpful, to hang around your neck and some are now being sold with a cord already attached. Handy as it prevents you from having to stop and look for it.
  • Sunscreen. SPF 40 is recommended and should be relatively new since it loses its effectiveness over time.
  • Pocket knife or small Swiss Army type.
  • Water purification Iodine tablets or Polar-pure crystals.
  • Toiletry kit. Be sure to include toilet paper stored in a plastic bag, hand wipes, and liquid hand sanitizer, towel, soap, etc.
  • 2 bandanas.

Optional

  • 1 pair of adjustable trekking poles. Although these are listed as optional, these can be of great assistance to people who may think of themselves as generally clumsy or with bad knees, ankles, etc. especially when going downhill
  • Favorite snack foods
  • Paperback books, cards, mp3 player (there are a couple of stops where you could recharge.
  •  Avoid players with moving hardware as it may not function. Remember, keep these items lightweight

Binoculars

  • 1 lightweight point-and-shoot camera or 1 large SLR. Digital cameras are working, but you must keep the batteries warm when not in use
  •  Hydration bladder with drinking tube and tube insulator
  •  A pee bottle for men and a pee funnel for women, some swear by them to avoid that chilly late night trip.
  • 1 small stainless steel thermos
