I had the chance to travel to Rasuwa this December, a wonderful place with the lovely Tamang Heritage Trail and the stunning Gosaikunda Lake. Having grown up hearing about the Himalayas, this trip provided the finest chance for me to learn about and engage with the local culture.

Nagthali: Tamang Heritage Trial

We left the capital, Kathmandu, early in the morning and drove to Tatopani, Chilime, Rasuwa. We took a break after driving to Trishuli to pick up some items. Once we had stayed here for a while, we drove to Kalikasthan for lunch. We enjoyed a Nepalese Thali here before continuing our drive to Tatopani, where it ended. Here, we took a little tea break before beginning the climb to Nagthali. We arrived at our destination, today after a brief two-hour hike and were greeted there with hot tea. After an evening of exploring the neighborhood, we went back to our hotel for a delectable cultural supper. Following supper, we spent some time by a Himalayan heater before retiring to our hotel for the night.

The following day, we got up early to trek to a viewpoint from which we could see the mountains and a magnificent sunrise. Sisha Pangma of Tibet, Paldor Peak, Ganesh Himal, and other mountains were among those we were able to observe. We enjoyed our time here before heading back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we set off to explore Nagthali's different sites, including the Buddha Statue, Gumbas, and panoramic vistas. After eating lunch at the hotel, we left for Tatopani. We checked into our hotel after arriving in Tatopani and then took a dip in the area's natural hot spring. We spent the night here and returning for dinner.

Gosaikunda: Magnificent Sacred Lake

Today, after breakfast, we traveled in local bus for around two hours to Dhunche. When we reached Dhunche, we took a little break before beginning our ascent taking the breathtaking views. We had lunch in Ghatte Khola. We started our journey through the forest and a few of the trial's small local settlements after lunch. We paused at Dhimsa for a quick tea break and a locally produced pancake. After the rest, we began the final ascent of the day, where we encountered some locals and yaks that were feeding. The goal for today was Chandanbari, which we arrived at in the evening. After arriving, we checked into our hotel, refreshed ourselves, and then went inside to sit by a Himalayan heater to stay warm. After a short period of recuperation, it was time for dinner, and then we retired to our room to get a good night's sleep before the climb next day.

We began our today’s hike after exploring the Chandanbari Singompa after an early-morning meal. We proceeded with the serene and lovely trial. We took a break for lunch in Lauribina. We enjoyed lunch here while taking in the breathtaking Himalayan panorama. We continued the trial to Gosaikunda after lunch. We could see alpine plants and expansive vistas of the Himalayas in the trial. We initially saw the Saraswati Kunda, then Bhairav Kunda, and finally Gosaikunda as the area is rich with lakes. When we got to the Goasikunda, we checked into the only open local lodge for the night. After relaxing at the lodge and enjoying some tea, we went on a brief excursion of the lake so that we could visit the nearby temples and take in the views. After the exploration, we went back to the lodge for dinner and a night's rest.

The next day, after visiting the frozen Surya Kunda in the chilly morning and returning to the guesthouse for breakfast. We set off on our final day of trekking in the direction of Dhunche. At Cholangpati, we had lunch and some rest. Following a brief rest at Cholangpati, we resumed the trial till we reached Dhunche while stopping for a tea break along the way. We spent our last night of the trip at the hotel in Dhunche.
