The average walking distance of Annapurna Circuit trek is 10 to 15 km per day. At higher altitude, your walking average may decrease  due to strenuous trails, high altitude, and harsh weather conditions.

Different Route Options

As we mentioned before, you can choose your desired starting and ending point of the trek. Choosing starting points and route options changes your trek distance and duration.

1. Short Route

Short route starts from Chame and ends at Jomsom. The short route of Annapurna circuit skips trails by driving to and from the trekking points. The short trek starts above and altitude of 2,600 m and the walking distance of the trek will be around 140 to 160Km. Short route to Annapurna Circuit Trek is best for trekkers with limited time.

2. Full Thorong La Circuit

Full Thorong La Circuit is included in classic and complete route of Annapurna Circuit trek. This trek begins from lower trail starting points like Besisahar(760m) and ends at Nayapul or Tatopani. The average distance of Annapurna Circuit Trek including Thorong La Circuit reaches around 230 Km. This trek is best for trekkers who want to experience classic trek routes with proper acclimatization.

3. Tilicho Lake side trip

Trip to magnificent Tilicho lake adds thrill and excitement to your journey. It also adds extra distance and duration to your Annapurna Circuit trek. It adds additional distance of 25 to 30 Km to reach Tilicho Lake (4,919). Trip to the beautiful glacier lake prepares you with acclimatization for Thorong La Pass.

How Distance Affects Trek Duration

Annapurna Circuit total distance affects your total trek duration. Longer trekking route and additional destinations extends your trekking days to 17 to 20 days. Meanwhile, short trekking route takes duration of 10 to 12 days. Also, the acclimatization, altitude, and your physical fitness impacts the durations.

In higher altitudes, it is harder to cover average distance due to steep climbs, extreme weather, and low oxygen level. Meanwhile acclimatizing, rest days, and additional trips to nearby attractions consumes extra days.
